Abstract
The Irish Church has been criticized for its lack of theolo gical substance. Of recent years, on the other hand, there has been quite a growth in the study of theology both at the formal student level and at the more informal adult level. It seems timely to ask how far theology is of value at the vari ous levels of personal development, Church life and public good. The Furrow has asked a number of people from various backgrounds what value, in their opinion, theology has for the individual, for the Church, for society. Their replies are given below.
