dc.description.abstract	This paper sets out to explore what can be learned from contemporary secular experiences and practices of leadership and management for pastoral leadership in the church by clergy and laity. It focuses on the dynamics of the process of leadership and what makes for effective leadership rather than upon the concrete challenges faced by pastoral leaders today as such, though some of these will be examined.
